Meet Darren McLoughlin

For nearly two decades, I've had the privilege of guiding photographers and travellers through Ireland's most spectacular landscapes. What began as architectural photography across Ireland evolved into something much more meaningful – combining my love for this country with my passion for teaching photography.

My background is a bit different from most photographers. Before picking up a camera professionally, I earned a BSc in Geography and worked in Irish archaeology—surveying sites, understanding land formation, and learning how people shaped this landscape over millennia. When I moved into professional photography in the mid-2000s, starting with architectural work, I realised I could combine that technical knowledge with on-site instruction to create photo tours that go deeper than the standard locations and offer authentic Irish experiences.

In 2019, I was diagnosed with cancer. Since making a full recovery, I've returned to work with a sharper focus and a practical appreciation for being out in the elements sharing my knowledge of Ireland with others.
